chapters 1-3 introduce a scene where Eli's sons are doing some heinous stuff which God certainly isn't pleased about. Eli does talk to them about it but God obviously thinks he could have stopped them but hasn't. Surely Eli was sick about the way his sons were behaving, why didn't he stop them? God says that Eli was honouring his sons above Him. Do I honour anyone above God? (I hope not!)
Anyway, when Samuel repeats what the Lord has said about Eli, Eli's response is amazing - "He is the Lord, let Him do what is good in His eyes".
Am I up for God's will to be done as He sees fit or do I want Him to do what is good in my eyes?
